10. Clock Tower
Clock Tower
combines two of my favourite genre survival horror and graphic adventure game
that’s why I couldn’t not to mention it in this list. The game is created by
Human Entertainment back in 1995 but I first played it on Playstation in the
late 90’s. I was like eleven years old on that time so this game was freaking
me out but the story was so attracting that I continued to play despite my
fears.
9. The Longest Journey
You fall
in love with this game since the first scene. Funcom created an unbelievable
combination of two different world concepts: once is fantasy and the other is
science. Beautiful visuals, deep story, magical music this game has everything
to steal your heart.
8. Machinarium
I heard
about Jakub Dvorský before
2009 when Machinarium was released. I played his first game Samorost and it was
obvious for me that this guy has a huge talent and in Machinarium this talent
shine as hell. The game has no dialogs or any spoken data but the story flow
through the player thanks to game visuals. Every scene of the game is a
masterpiece. Game mechanics remained simple but the complexity of the puzzles
won’t give a break to your brain.
7. The Walking Dead
The Walking
Dead is an episodic graphic adventure game developed by the Telltale Games. I
really adore seeing how Telltale is trying to popularized again the graphic adventure
game genre and I should say that they succeed. The gameplay mechanics keeps a
classic point-and-click concept at its basis but at the same try to implement
some new elements to make games more interacting and fun.
6. Full Throttle
I like all
that is connecting with rock music so it’s not a surprise that I felt in love
with Tim Schafer masterpiece “Full Throttle”. Back in the 90’s LucasArts
developed the most popular and innovative graphic adventure game and Full
Throttle was one of those. The game visuals and audio elements were
jaw-dropping for those time but even today it’s difficult to find such an
interesting adventure game.
5. Fahrenheit
There are a
lot of debates around David Cage projects. Are they game or interactive movies?
I will not give you any answer but I can say for sure that Fahrenheit was a
brilliant GAME. The borders of the cinematic presentation, storytelling and
player influence on the story were pushed away after the release of Fahrenheit.
It was the time when Quick-time events were innovative and fun. The game story
was very emotive and attacking.
4. Myst III: Exile
I like the
Myst series in both apostasies: games created by Cyan World and this one
created by Presto. Maybe that’s because Myst III: Exile was the first game from
this series that I played. The locations of the game are wonderfully diverse
and beautiful. It was the first game from the Myst series to allow people to
sweep the camera around them for a 360 degree look. A lot of interesting
puzzle, good story, brilliant visuals and music, this game have everything to
be in my top.
3. Syberia
It will be
always a question for me why the Microïds games are so underrated. Benoît Sokal
created a world full of epic discovers and beautiful wonders. Every element of
the game is remarkable and it would take me forever to talk about its
delightful atmosphere but I will just please those who never played it, give it
a try.
2. Grim Fandango
Another
excellent masterpiece from Tim Schaffer. This game has it own negative aspects
but they can’t spoil the good impression of the game. Combination of the
Mexican mythology and Film Noir genre that what create such a good impression
about this game. But its humor and irony that’s that will leave a mark on your
soul. The game's memorable characters are
nearly overshadowed by breathtaking environments full of clever ideas and devious
puzzles. Seriously – being dead has never been so enjoyable.
1.Snatcher
Everyone
who’s really interested in game industry knows Hideo Kojima most because of the
Metal Gear Solid success but before it Kojima created some game that should be
mention by people. One of them is Snatcher. If you like Sci-Fi as much as I do
you should love this game too. Hollywood has Blade Runner and we have a better
response in face of “Snatcher”.
